I don't capture moments.
I capture what they feel like.

Film reference — soft warm tones
Origin

Hi — I'm Kate.

I'm a wedding and couples photographer based in Northern California. I grew up rewatching old films with my mom — that's where my eye was trained, long before I held a camera. Movies like Pride & Prejudice, Atonement, and Little Women shaped how I see the world: soft light, long pauses, faces that didn't need to say anything. That's still what I look for.

I always dreamed of making a film. Photography became my answer. Every wedding, every couples session — it's the short film I get to make for someone else's love story.

katrinscanon is built around one belief: the best photographs are the ones that feel like something. Not technically perfect. Not posed. But alive.

How I shoot

Three things that shape every frame.

01 · Cinematic

Every image is a frame from a film that hasn't been made yet.

I treat light, composition, and emotion the way a director of photography would — with care, and in service of a feeling.

02 · Intentional

Nothing is rushed.

I pace sessions to let real moments unfold — not a series of poses. The glance before the first look is already the photo.

03 · Personal

You'll never feel like you're performing.

Just being. Safe, seen, and at ease — that's where the real photographs live. I'll take care of the rest.

Pride & Prejudice (2005) · Atonement · Normal People
Little Women · Before Sunrise

One more thing

I don't do this alone. My husband Herman shoots alongside me on weddings as second photographer and quietly keeps our small studio running behind the scenes — the emails, the timelines, the details that make the day feel unhurried. You'll meet him on your wedding day, camera in hand, usually catching the moment just to the left of mine.

Let's create your film.

Every couple I work with gets my full attention — from the first email through the final gallery.
